•  Enora And The Black Crane------ I know that Jackie French likes books about early Australia, and this book is about dream time stories and that was what Aboriginal people told to keep themselves entertained and pass down through the generations.
•  I See A Kookaburra------ A kookaburra is an Australian animal and Jackie French likes animals.
•  Edwina The Emu------ Another Australian animal the 'emu' which Jackie loves
•  Kangaroo And The Crocodile, My Big Book Of Australian Animals------ As I said before, Jackie French likes Australian animals.
•  The Australian Twelve Days Of Christmas------ Wonderful Australian christmas bush theme.
•  Puggles Problem------ A beautiful story about an echidna who has no spines but all his australian bush friends try and help solve his problem.
•  Why I love Australia------ Jackie Loves everything about Australia.
•  The Trenches------ Jackie French writes about our ANZAC heroes and would love this book.
•  Anzac Biscuits------ Another sad but interesting story about an Australian soldier who goes off to war. I bet Jackie has read it.

Jackie French - Book Review

One of my favourite Jackie French books is called ‘Flood’.

Flood may look like a little children’s picture book from the cover, but when you start reading this fantastic book you start to realise how devastating the rain can be, how sad that so many families lost their homes, businesses and family members and how hard the people of Queensland worked to save their community.

‘Flood’ is about one of many devastating floods that Queensland endured and how the strength of humankind and the community pulled together to help one another even if they had lost everything.

The story begins with the much needed ‘gentle rain’ falling onto the dry land. The rain suddenly turns savage and is so heavy for such a long period of time that the ground and the rivers can’t hold it all.

Finally the rivers break their banks and the town is flooded with torrents of water. Trees are sucked into the torrents and boats are torn from their jetties. Cables of a boardwalk snapped and a kilometre of wood and metal became a weapon of the flood but a little tugboat saved it from harming the town.

The book explains how the human spirit of the community help each other risking their own lives to save other people and homes.

A wonderful story from devastation to greatness and lots of sadness in between.

What makes this book even more special is that 'all profits raised from the sale of each book went to the Flood Disaster Relief Appeal.

1. Charlotte's Web which is written by E.B. White and i think she would like this book because it is about a girl and a friendly spider to save her little pig.

2. Watership Down, written by Richard Adams which is about some brave rabbits going out to find a new home and that is why i think she would like this book.

3.Black Beauty Which is about the adventures of a beautiful black horse which is written by Anna Sewell, i think Jackie would like this book because of the adventures it has.

4.Animal Farm is by George Orwell.I think she would like this book because it is about animals being tired of working for men and start the own society.

5.The Tale Of Peter rabbit is about a rabbit who is always getting into trouble by doing mischief. The book is written by Beatrix Potter. She would like because of all the funny mischief he gets into.

6.Marley And Me is about a Dog called Marley and the adventures he has with his family. It is written by John Grogan.She would like it because its based on Actual events.

7.The wind in the willows is written by Kenneth Grahame. This book is about these animals called Mole, willful Ratty, Badger the perennial bachelor, and petulant Toad and there amazing adventures, that is why i think she would like this book.

Book review on books read at school

A Waltz For Matilda is about a girl that is 12 years old and her name is Matilda.

Matilda is living with her mother and wants to find her unknown father which she dreamed would be a golden man so she goes out and goes to find her and encountering a few people on the way like curry and rice.

There are also people trying to get in her way and Aboriginal people who she helps.


This is a great book and would rate it 9/10 because of all the surprises and the outbush which sometimes makes me wonder.If there is another like this i would read it because it is a great book.
